I knit this blanket for my cousin’s newborn baby. I wanted to make something special for him because he’s a miracle baby. My cousin has had 2 second trimester miscarriages in the past and was told she’d never be able to carry a baby to term. She switched doctors, consulted specialist, had a cerclage, and 37 weeks later she gave birth to her first and only child on June 19th :cheering: She wouldn’t let me knit anything for the baby until the beginning of June. It took her that long to feel everything would be ok.
pattern: Moderne Baby Blanket from Mason Dixon Knitting
yarns: Lion Brand Cotton Ease in Lake blue, Taupe brown, Snow white and Stone grey
needle: US 7 Addi turbo
modifications:
in block 9, I knit 36 ridges instead of 54
in part of block 10, I picked up and knit 132 stitches instead of 150
instead of the garter stitch mitered border, I crocheted 3 rows of single crochet
start: June 16, 2009
finish: July 3, 2009
Beautiful! I’m so happy that she could have a little happiness after so much sorrow. Miscarriages are so painful and carrying that little precious one to term afterwards is pure joy!
Congratulations to your cousin. She did the right thing with switching doctors. I’m glad everything turned out so well. Your blanket is very nice. Nice design for a boy.
