Hello. I am using mattress stitch to assemble my first sweater I knit. I am having a problem though. I have ribbing on the bottom of the sweater. It’s a mens sweater. Can someone tell me how to do the mattress stitch without disrupting the k2 p2 sequence, meaning so that it’s k2p2 at the seam edge. By the way. I do know how to do the mattress stitch on regular stockinette, but not ribbing. I am so confused. please help meu:?? :???: :??
You have horizontal ribbing? You still do mattress stitch, but pick up the bumps of the purls the way you would the bars of the knits.
Unless you did a st out of pattern on the beg and end of the row it won’t stay in k2 p2, one st from each rib is going to be hidden in the seam. Some patterns have you k2 p2 and end with k2 so when you seam the edges there’s still 2 knits to keep it in pattern, but not all of them do that.
