Math question

I plan to make the Jordan baby blanket. It’s a free pattern and available via Ravelry.

The pattern calls for dk yarn and makes a 15”x15” preemie size blanket with info to make up to 30” wide. The pattern repeat is multiples of 8.

I’m using Lion Brand Heartland acrylic, it’s a nice soft yarn. Worsted weight.

I would like to make a blanket about 45” wide. I am making a swatch, and it is coming out to 7 inches over 4 repeats (32 stitches). I did not block because it is acrylic yarn and I don’t expect any shrinkage.

Here’s my math:

45” divided by 7 = 6.42”
6.42” x 32 stitches = 205.44
To get multiples of 8 stitches I rounded up to 208

I believe that a cast on of 208 stitches should get me slightly over 45” width. I have 12 skeins, 251 yards each and will knit until I run out.

Am I on the right track?

Total stitch count of 208 will work. Also think about the pattern set up. Six sts each side for the border plus 8stitch repeat x24 plus an additional 4sts. That extra 4 sts is because the repeat is 8sts + 4.

Thank you.

I did look at that. The 6 border stitches each side, plus the 4 additional stitches is 16. Again multiples of 8, that’s the way it worked out in the swatch.
