Matching Raglans

I’m a fairly experienced knitter making a raglan sleeve cardigan. However, I cannot make the side panel raglans the same length as the sleeve raglans - the latter are longer. I have treble checked the instructions and have done exactly as they say. Thinking about it, if a side panel only has 62 stitches before armhole, but the sleeve is increased to 90 stitches before armhole, the raglans can’t be the same can they?
It doesn’t make sense to me. (Pattern is Wendy 5651)

How is your row gauge? For raglans which may differ in shaping between body and sleeves, row gauge can become important.
Since I’m often off in row gauge I compensate by decreasing the raglan more quickly near the armhole bind off, maybe decreasing 2sts at each end of the row for a couple of rows.
When you say the sleeve has 90 sts is that the entire sleeve or one side of the sleeve? The reason I ask is the the sleeve has 2 raglan edges and the side panel only one.
