Martin Storey’s Lee Cardigan

@salmonmac, Happy to share that I managed to complete another labour of love - for my son, Arjun, whose wife chose this shawl collared pattern as something he would enjoy wearing in spring and autumn temperatures. Made of Rowan’s Softyak DK which is a blend of 15% Yak, 76% cotton and 9% nylon, it took me 8 long months to complete the project, as I switched between the Geraldine’s top for my daughter and this one. The repetitive double moss pattern on the sleeves and back is something for fast knitters, which I certainly am not - called for much patience and a little multi tasking, as I listened to podcasts or music to beat the monotony.

Loved the challenge of the front and shawl collar, and the pride of having cracked the decreases on the cables front, without sitting at the edge of my seat like I did for Kim Hargreaves Roux, my first cable decrease project, that you so kindly helped me with !

The finished product is a pleasure to hold - I hope my son finds it equally a pleasure to wear ! I have not blocked it (yet)

I love SoftYak yarn, such a lovely feel to it as you knit and even better to wear.
