I bought two skeins of Manos del Uruguay recently, but didn’t realize that it was more itchy than I originally anticipated. I’m not really used to thick-then-thin wool, but I can’t bear to give it away. What can I make with it? ANY suggestions will be greatly appreciated!
Did you try that hair conditioner trick with it that was posted a few months back? You wash the wool or garment in mild soap and rinse then you put a little bit of VO5 hair conditioner in the water. I can’t remember if you rinse again or not. If you post a thread with hair conditioner in the title, you might get a more complete answer.
How about a handbag? You won’t be wearing that close to your skin.
You could also do some sort of garment that get worn over something else.
Good luck!

Hi there…I just made a My So Called Scarf (there are photos of it in the Whatcha Knittin’ thread if you want to see it) with Manos and it turned out lovely. I only had one skein so I made it thinner than the original pattern, but it calls for two skeins and it is an easy two row pattern repeat. I have to say, though, that I don’t care for how Manos is thick and thin either, but it makes the scarf pattern interesting.
