Malabrigo

Where is the best place to buy this stuff? I just took a peek at the Yarn Olympics KAL and folks had some in there and now I am SOOOooo Jonesin for some!!! :XX:  :XX:  :XX:

handpaintedyarn.com has other yarns by them - they don’t have the worsted weight, which is what the malabringo is, but they have a yummy bulky merino…

other than that, WEBS has it, I believe. It is scrumptious yarn thats for shore!

I ordered some from 2 places. www.knit2purl2.com was GREAT. Very quick delivery and good choice of colors.

www.yarn.com was also wonderful and had a decent selection of colors. And if you order at least $60, you get a discount.

I also ordered from an eBay seller, I’ll have to go back and check who it was.

I just knitted my daughter some longies in the Malabrigo. I am in LOVE!!!

It’s gorgeous, though I can’t speak yet for its pilling qualities. Have fun! The colorways are just unbelievable!

Oh man that stuff is gorgeous! Just what I need, another must-have yarn. I’m in love with that pale blue, orchid. hmmmmmm

Hm, that’s funny at Yarn.com they say Malabrigo is better than Manos del Uruguay, the yarn I am thinking of buying for my Einstein coat.
Not many people seem to have Manos either.

Malabrigo is sooooo much softer than Manos – IMHO there is absolutely no comparison.

On the Yahoo yarn co-op group we just had a co-op for a yarn that is supposed to be as soft as Malabrigo…another Uruguayan cooperative…I think mine is going to come in the mail tomorrow. I’m hoping it’s true because the price was soooo good and the colors are gorgeous. :inlove:

Thanks for the tip Julie… I think I actually want Manos for its being heavier for the Einstein coat I might make if I can get around to affording it…
so what’s with the coop on Yahoo? I guess I could check it out huh?

On the knit 2 yarn 2 website they say they are making the einstien coat for knitting Olympics  I wonder what they’re using?

Oh my goodness, I just have to share – my wool just arrived from the co-op and it is fabulous. It really is as soft as Malabrigo…especially the undyed skeins that I got. It’s a little different, I’d say not as loosely spun or something, as it seems a little lighter weight, though it is worsted weight. I can’t wait to swatch it!!!

The seller is 100purewool – through the co-op it was considerably cheaper and the shipping charges were much less than if you buy directly from them on eBay. I am SO hoping that the co-op will be repeated!!!

Off to blog about my yarn now… :roflhard:

Wow three skeins for $20! Over 200 yards of yarn! WOWOWOWOWOW     ANd its soft you say? Oh y’all are dangerous for me :cheering:

On eBay the shipping is what’ll kill you…that’s why I waited for the co-op to try it. But yes, it is wonderfully soft. Excuse me, I think I need to go and fondle it again…then find a good hiding place so I don’t get a big    when DH comes home. :roflhard:

ya know i have a pair of unfinished baby booties that have been rattling around the bottom of my knitting bag for at least three months and have been frogged and knitted probaby 5 times (i was being freakishly girly and indecisive for a bit) …i think that this would be a reeeeeeally good test of pilling and i don’t really see any at all.

thank goodness i am not easily tempted these days or that ebay link would cause me trouble. i have SOOOO Much malabrigo from my LYS end of year clearance that i have no no no need for quite some time!

i would agree that the malabrigo is softer by a thousand than manos but i think that manos would probably be warmer. that hand dyed property to it could be a pain though but i am a lazy knitter! :rofling:
