Malabrigo Cable and Lace Scarf

I found the most beautiful pattern last night for a wide scarf. I really wanted to use my Malabrigo yarn with the pattern, but didn’t want it to be as wide.

So, I’ve revised the pattern:

Abbreviations:

C6F: slip the next 3 stitches onto a cable needle and hold them in front of the work; knit the next 3 stitches; then knit the 3 stitches off the cable needle.
Yo: Yarn Over

Here is the original pattern: http://www.millharrow.com/weblog/front_content.php?idart=146&idsel=145

I started working on it this morning, and did the first set of 24 rows. I like how it’s going so far!

After seeing your narrower cable and lace scarf, that is what I am doing for my sweet sil. That is, if my malabrigo comes in the mail today !

How wide is your cable-lace-cable pattern, and do you think just one skein of malabrigo will be enough ?

Juding by all the enthusiastic posts, I think you have started your very own knit-along !

 that’s absolutely great

That’s going to be beautiful!

Oh, I hope your yarn comes in soon!! It’s so hard to wait for beautiful yarn, isn’t it?

My scarf is 4 1/4 inches wide, but I’m a tight knitter. I think that one skein will be enough, but time will tell! I’m crossing my fingers that it will be. I probably won’t put fringe on mine, because I’m not a big fan of fringe.

Cool! 8)

:inlove: That is just beautiful!

I’m just concerned with how the back looks since scarves flop around…does it look okay? :??

Beautiful Scarf!!! What colorway is that?

That’s beautiful! I love how you made it symmetrical – that was the one thing I wasn’t sure I liked about the original pattern.

It looks like the back of a scarf. :teehee:

It’s not too bad, really.

Beautiful! Inspires me to learn how to cable! :happydance:

Ooooh, it’s gorgeous! Beautiful color, too.

Knitwit, the colorway is Jewel Blue 32

Purty purty!

Very lovely! Color and pattern.

Thank you all so much. I’m really enjoying making this scarf. The yarn feels like heaven, and the stitch pattern is fun.

There is a special yarn-over in this pattern. Last night, I made a video of how to do the YO after a purl, and before a SKP. (It’s kind of a weird procedure.) You have to do that special yarn-over on rows 13, 15, 17, 19, 21, and 23.

The pattern is lovely!! And the color’s beautiful!! :inlove:

Hmmm… I never thought about yo-s being being different depending on what you do after it… I’m a conti knitter so and it’s always just been the same for me nomatter what I knit after it…

Gorgeous!! Love the way this looks already!
Very tempting, as I just got a skein of Malabrigo in Olive to wear with my hat. Hmmmm…
