Making Cozy knit Wristlers

I am new to knitting. Know the basics, but am stuck on a pattern from red-heart yarn. I have k-2, p-2 for 12 rows now it is asking me to divide for thumb. Instructions state ( and this is where I get confused)"Right Side, Keeping continuity of ribbing, work across 26 sts, bind off next 2 sts, work to end."
If I work the 26 sts starting with k-2,p-2, I am at a pearl st and not sure how to bind off for the thumb opening on a pearl stitch.
The pattern doesn’t explain and I am at a loss on how to achieve this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Binding off is just taking the 2nd st on the R needle over the first stitch, otherwise you do the st on the L needle as a purl or knit. And remember you need 2 sts to BO 1, so after you work 26 sts purl the next 2 sts, then lift the first one of them over the other. Knit the next stitch and lift the other purl over it. Now continue to the end of the round/row.

thanks. I followed the directions and binded off 2 sts continued then the nest row it asked me at where I had binded off to cast on 2 sts and I did then continued the row. Now its telling me just to k-2, p-2 until I reach my desire length and bind of but the whole for the thumb you can’t ever put your little finger in can the pattern directions be wrong or am I missing something?

You might have bound off or cast on too tight. Go back and do it again more loosely, or use 3 sts.

This is the pattern. I will take your advice on the 3 sts but actually I think more like four or more for the thumb. I guess I will play with it. It was looking so good until I got to this part now I don’t have a clue how it will turn out.

It’s not a good thing to repost a pattern from another site here; even when free, it belongs to other people and they don’t like to have them posted in forums.

Yeah, at 6 sts per inch, 2 sts isn’t much for a thumb opening, so I think 4 may be better. Though keeping the BO and CO loose it’ll stretch in the ribbing.

Yes, better to post a link or just a few lines of the part you’re having trouble with.
