Making a simple blanket

Hi,

I am making a simple small blanket and I am very new to knitting. I have my gramma help me start but I am just not sure if I am doing it correctly.

I am confused as to how to begin a new row. Also, I have 4 rows completed but I am finding that my warn and rows are wrapping around my needle , like spiraling. Is this normal? I put a photo of what it looks like below.

Help!

Well, what happens is if your sure your knitting it correctly its just that at times it rolls around, such as when your making the stitches on the beginning. So if its for that reason then yes its normal.
:knitting:

-If I helps thank me please
I’m glad if i helped

I am sure I am doing the stitches right. I am just wondering if I have too many stitches on the needle which is making it wrap around like that.

I also need help with beginning a new row, can you help?

Are you knitting on straight needles? That maybe the reason that you knitting is wraping, because there are too many stitches to fit nicely on the needle. If you switch to a circular needle and keep knitting in the same way, the stitches will have more space to spread on the needla and on the cable.
It’s hard to explain about starting a new row, you just knit the first stitch like every other stitch. Amy has a video here of making a small project. There you can see how to start a new row.
