I am making another shrug, I’m using the stockinette stitch this time . The cuff is 7in and then I started the stockinette stitch. My question is on the beginning of the rows how do I start. Do I slip the first knit stitch as if to knit and then knit the row and then when I purl the row do I slip the first stitch again as if to purl and then purl the row? And if not I do, I slip the knit stitch as if to knit it or purl ?
That’s how I slip sts, but if you’re going to seam up the cuffs, you don’t need to. It might actually make seaming more difficult. And if you’re going to pick up stitches around the stockinette part, you don’t need to slip there either.
If you do want a slip st edge, I use a different method than usually advised because that gives me looser loops than if I’d just knit as usualy. I slip the last st, and work the 1st st as it’s supposed to be.

Is Stockinette even a good choice to use for my shrug??
