Make 1 after pickup

I’m making an afghan consisting of stockinette squares with a mitered garter stitch border (knitted in the round) all sewn together.

The pattern says on my first row, after I’ve picked up all the stitches around the finished edges of the stockinette section, I need to make one on my second stitch.

I have no idea how to make that stitch since the bar one usually uses to make one isn’t there since I just picked up.

Does Anybody have a good tutorial or method how to do this?

I’m pretty new to knitting as well, just fyi.

Hi and welcome!
You can do a knit front and back, kfb which only requires a stitch itself for the increase.

Thanks so much, that worked splendidly!
