I’ve read other posts about this question, but they just don’t seem to address my problem. At least the ones I saw don’t. Of course, I’m probably missing the obvious. Also, this pattern is written for DPNs, which is probably the biggest part of my confusion. I didn’t have the right size DPNs, so made this my first attempt at magic loop
I’m ready to do my heel flap. I understand the directions: knit first 10 sts, turn; sl1, purl across the 10 sts, then continue purling the next 10 sts, turn; sl1, k1 across the 20 sts.
I understand all that, just not sure how to arrange all the sts on the needle to actually DO that.
Hope someone understands what I’m getting at and can help me.
I understand the problem you are having, as i have just done it myself … knitting socks using ML from a pattern written for DPNs. I managed it some how but it takes some carefull rearanging or the stitches and needles. I just can’t remember how i did it! i just hope i can by the tiem i get to the heel on sock number 2.
I think it was a case of knitting the first lot of stitchesshuffeling all the stitches which were on the cable up onto the right hand needle (the one with the working yarn on) and the stitches on the left needle off and on to the able, then turning and knitting the stitches you have just worked, plus the extra stitches. I thinki then pushed all of the needles onto the cable and divided them again as you do when you first start ML, so that the heel flap stotches are ont he needle and can be knit back and forth.
