Hey Knitters,
Is there a knitting magazine out there for begainners I am looking into getting a subscription. I am interested in hearing what you read

Hmm, I’ve heard of Knit Simple from Vogue, it’s geared for beginners and people with busy lives who love things to knit which are simple. I also had a subscription to Creative Knitting. I don’t want it anymore though because the designs are too simple. Creative Knitting is nice though. I believe I had a subscription with them for 3 years.

I’d recommend Vogue Knitting Magazine itself, or Intwerweave knits, just for the plain fact that you are getting what you paid for. They usually have some projects in them for beginners through advanced. So it is good to have a magazine with a range so that you can grow with it, especially with a subscription.

If you are still too scared of the higher up mags, I stand by Creative Knitting and Knit Simple.

I really like the patterns in Interweave Knits…

purchasing a subscription to a magazine that you LIKE, instead of one that you think matches your current level of skill, might be a good way to achieve your goal to become more proficient at pattern reading! There are TONS of resources that can help you with that… you’re logged on to the BEST ONE right now! :mrgreen:

I get most of the knitting magazines. I’m an “advanced beginner”. I enjoy Simple Knits and Creative Knitting for easier but nice projects. :cheering:

Interweave is wonderful eye candy but I think their publication is mostly for advanced. I enjoy their ads more than anything. Family Circle also puts out an issue every quarter and I buy it on the newstand. That also is geared towards easier projects.

My daughter got me Creative Knitting for Christmas last year. The patterns are pretty easy.

I suggest you go to someplace like Barnes and Noble though and check out a lot of mags. Then you can see for yourself, too.

you should try the web first… most of them are free… and it had been try out by most of the knitters here i believe…

One that I really enjoy is Knit1 also from vogue knitting. The good thing is that they basically use all lion brand yarn for thier projects, they have a guide in the back to compare yarns. The bad thing though is that they seem like most of the patterns are for an intermediate knitter.

But they have good stuff. They even had a “Men” issue that I back ordered and just recieved. Very cool hats and sweaters.

I vote for Creative Knitting for a beginner, too. There is a wide variety of pattern types and instructional articles. I love Interweave Knits, though, too.
