M1p

Knitters,

I am knitting a sweater sleeve and the pattern mysteriously asks that I m1p. Never having done this before, I had to figure it out, assuming that it would be sort of the opposite of m1k. The resulting stitches look okay, but there are now some large holes in the knitted fabric. Is this just a result of having made an increase or have I done it wrong? If so, how do I do it right?

Thanks much.

You worked it by lifting the strand between two sts? Did you work it twisted? If not, it’ll create a hole.

Yes, it’s like M1 knitwise only you purl into it. But you should purl so the stitch twists and minimizes the hole.
