I am knitting a aran polo neck with a 1x1 rib. On the next row it says to Rib4, M1,* rib3, M1,rep to last 3 sts, rib 3, then change needle size.
The main pattern looks like ribbing at the sides with a cable in the centre and flags either sides.
As sometimes you are M1(knitting into the back as to knit) a purl stitch. So on the right needle I will have 2knit stitches. So should I purl or knit the next stitch as after the M1 has been made the pattern changes. At the moment I have been checking the stitches on the left and if it was a purl st i am purling that stitch and knitting the knit stitches. I hope someone understands what I am trying to say.
What I would do is just make one like EZ did it: Make a backward loop on the needle, and it will blend in with whatever stitch pattern you are doing. Does that help, or do you need more elaboration?
What I was saying is, you are essentially using the backward loop cast on, but only making 1 in the middle of the piece, see? That is an invisible increase and will blend in with the rest of your knitting.
