I officially love knitting lace but as I am not the most attentive knitter, I have made another mistake.
Im on Row 3 and have only 30 stitches. I was wondering if someone had any ideas on what would be the best way to pick up this lost stitch... I dont mind some small visible errors so i was wondering if anyone had any ideas.
Keep in mind, I can knit back on the row Im knitting (which I did after realizing I didnt have enough stitches)… but I`m pretty terrible at ripping out a whole row… especially with this lace pattern!
Check back a row or two, on the right side, and carefully follow across, checking to see if you have done the k3, then the ssk, then yo, etc. Then when you find where you went astray, see how many stitches into the row you are and add a stitch at that point in the row on which you are working.
I found I`d missed a yo two rows back and did a m1 approx. where I thought it was… I have a little lopsided leaf but still looks alright to me! Thanks again.
Good fix! Sometimes I think we obsess on getting each row perfect, when in the end the frustration isn’t worth it.
When I work the back side of a lace pattern, I’ll often read the previous rows stitches from left to right to make sure that I’m at the right spot–at the previous row’s ssk, yo, whatever. This way, if I missed a yo, I can lift the bar and pretend that it was always there. Or if I didn’t pass a stitch over I can take care of it then.
