my pattern has a repeat, which is:
yfwd, sl1, k2tog, psso, yfwd, k3
i drop 2 stitches every repeat from the sl1, k2tog, psso
i pick up one stitch from the yfwd, k3
so in total, I drop 1 stitch every repeat
what am i doing wrong? is the ywfd, sl1 supposed to add a stitch? because i can’t get it to work

Welcome to KH. Yes, you have 2 decreases in the repeat. You also have 2 increases to balance them out. Yfwd results in a yo. When you get the yfwd’s you’ll have the same number of stitches you started with.

The yfwd then sl doesn’t seem to add a stitch?
The yfwd sl1 should add a stitch. bring your yarn forward, slip the stitch, and make sure that when you go to knit your next stitch, you’ve wrapped the yarn around the needle instead of taking it to the back between the needles. Then, when you knit those two stitches on the next round, pay extra close attention because I bet they will get stuck together and be easy to pick up as one stitch!
