Lopi question

Several friends and I made this felted purse in a class (I will post a FO picture as soon as I attach the strap and get an answer to this question). It is a purse, not a tote. We did them in Lopi and lets just say that while the shape is cute, they are so…HAIRY! My sons called mine the Kitty Hairball purse, and my friend’s daughter called hers a dead possum.

Can you shave them a little to reduce some of the hair? Or better to just leave well enough alone and learn a lesson re using Lopi for a purse (I think it would be fine in a tote).

You can shave it if you don’t like it the way it is. Lopi isn’t spun very tightly, so I’d expect that it would felt hairy. You don’t have to live with it that way, though. I’ve read that people use a regular disposable razor for it.

I don’t think I would get rid of all that lopi fuzziness - my bag isn’t as much of an issue as my friends - hers was brown and taupe - mine is baby blue…but I wouldn’t mind getting rid of a little of it! There are a few clumpy/matty things that need to go. My bag will clearly be a winter bag, and once its dry I am definitely planning on using it…
