Loose at the sides?

Why is there loose yarn when i stitch at the last few loops? its like its too loose. But i have tighten it from the start.

Are the loose stitches on the first row you knit or all of them? If the problem is with the first row it could be the cast on you’re using.

i did tighten the thread when i cast on. The loose yarn started after the row that i was supposed to Purl, as according to the pattern instruction.

How many rows have you knit? Those loose stitches usually work their way in after a few rows.

I have knitted 4 rows and the loose yarn got loosser.

It might be that your tension on purl rows is looser than on knit rows. Can you post a picture of your work? There’s a link to how=-to in Jan’s signature.
Can you give us your pattern name and a link to the pattern?

There is a loose yarn at the top. Why?? it follows into each row after Row 2.

The pattern:

Cast on 11 st

Row 1: P
Row 2: (k1, M1) x 10, K1
Row 3: P
Row 4: (k2, M1) x 10, K1

Loose yarn at the edge? It looks like this happened on the beginning of the previous row. The other edge of the knitting doesn’t show this kind of loop of yarn. It may be that you need to make sure the working yarn is snup as you make that first stitch of the row, not tight, just snugged up to the first stitch. I would undo the previouse two rows and re-knit them but you may also be able to work the loop into the stitches next to it by pulling up the slack for a few sts. This is similar to the way you would fix a snag (a ulled out loop) in a knit sweater.
Thanks for the photo. What is it that you’re making?

I used to notice this on rows that start with a purl st and would have one loose, sloppy edge and one that looked pretty good. Pay attention to how you snug the stitches as salmonmac suggests and after a while it will probably not be a problem and you won’t even think about it anymore.

Thank u  I’m very new to knitting. In fact, this is my first project. I’m making a bunny plushie, which was love at first sight
