Hello,
I would like to knit the Snowdrift Cardigan in Inspired To Knit by Michele Orne. I am having trouble deciding on a yarn. I am looking for a wool or wool blend that will not be scratchy or end up with excessive pilling. The pattern calls for Chunky wieght (#5 Bulky). I have checked a lot of the yarn that people posted comments about on Ravelry, but everyone seems to comment that their yarn looked worn before their project was finshed, pilled, or split terribly. So, If you have a favorite yarn for a chunky weight sweater, I would really appreciate hearing your experiences. Or, if you have a warning of a yarn to stay away from, that would be appreciated as well!
Peace,
Kris
Bernat Softee Chunky or James Brett Marble Chunky would be good, maybe Lion’s Woolease Thick and Quick or Chunky too.
I have very sensitive skin and can’t wear even most blends. I’ve used James C. Brett Marble Chunky for a sweater and right now I’m using Berroco Vintage for a sweater. No guarantees, but so far it feels very soft.
As for pilling - the Marble Chunky does pill some, but I just shaved it and it looked fine.
