Looking for ideas or pattern - bulky cotton yarn

Hi–

My grandma bought this yarn http://www.herrschners.com/products/product.aspx?sku=711133 thinking it would be good for facecloths. I’m still trying to gently educate her on knitting with the proper sized needles, etc. She knitted a swatch using US6 and was suprised to find it stiff - sigh. She sent it to me & I got a nice fabric using US9. But I’m looking for ideas on what to make with it. It’s chained yarn, 100% mercerized cotton, so it has a nice sheen, cream color, 42 yds per 50gm. I think she sent 3 or 4 balls.

The only thing I can think of is a cute little purse, maybe with a dark felted bottom (I have wool in different colors), or even one of those footed purses. If anyone has any other ideas or knows of a really cute pattern, I’d appreciate it. I can make up a purse pattern on my own, but I love seeing other people’s ideas.

Thanks!

Good luck!

Thanks! But unfortunately I can’t use a baby sweater, don’t want a poncho (nor do I have enough), and the yarn is bulkier than the vest yarn. It does kind of suggest some avant garde shrug type thing, but I’m not sure that cotton would be best for that. I appreciate your suggestions tho!

This calls for bulky cotton.

Thanks! Wow that’s cute - doesn’t even look like chunky cotton. Unfortunately I have no kids to knit for either. No dog even. :frowning: Hmmm… maybe I should get a dog to knit for!
