Looking for flat knit hat pattern

I have grown bored with knitting scarves, wrist/pulse warmers, and most other two dimensional projects. I am not quite ready, (or supplied for that matter) to start knitting hats with dpns, as I only have a set of 4 size 8 dpns. I have on Circular needle, but it is only size 5 and I don’t have an appropriate yarn for those. (it is a 16 incher.) So I was wondering if you guys knew of a good pattern for a flat knit hat that I could do on straight needles, that would look good on a guy, and wouldn’t be too difficult to do for a first hat.

Any ideas?

I have knitted a “flat” knitted hat four different times. One for my four year old grandson and a matching one for his 60 year old grandpa. Then I did two more. One for each of my two cousins, one a PHD in China and one a lighting company exec in AK. (The background was to show you how versatile this pattern is.) It is like a watch cap, ski cap, skull cap…whatever you want to call it. It pulls on the head and has a ribbed brim you fold up over your ears. It is a fast, easy pattern knitted flat and then “mattress stitched” up on the sides to close. I think you will like it. It is from a pattern called Hats & Mittens designed by Melinda Goodfellow. If you are interested, I will type the pattern for you. You use worsted wool for this cap. :x: tothaisland

Don’t post a whole copyrighted pattern here please. If it’s your own then that’s fine.

Almost any hat other than lacy ones look fine for guys. Just use masculine colors and these will all work. Here’s some two needle hats.

I’m new to blogging myself and didn’t know you couldn’t share a pattern you purchased.

Can he just blog the designer and pattern by name and then purchase the pattern at a knit shop? Her patterns are terrific and
I feel that he would enjoy knitting from them. I apologize once again for the error.

Don’t worry about it, it happens a lot. Even free patterns are copyrighted. It’s okay to give the name of the pattern and designer or a link so they can find it.
