Looking for an easy-to-knit sweater

I just picked up some seriously vintage wool yarn, and a lot of it, and I’d like to try an open sweater (buttons) / jacket. I’ve never made anything that’s not just one piece before (lots of hats, scarves, dishclothes, cat toys), but I’m pretty adept with most types of stitches and anything I can’t do I’m sure I can learn. Nevertheless, I’d like to start with something fairly foolproof, one colour and pretty.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Silver had suggested this pattern a while back. I tried it and liked it a lot. It can be adapted to make a cardigan. http://www.woolworks.org/patterns/raglan.htmladapted

Your link didn’t work for me Jeremy, but I’m not sure what it’s supposed to be so I can’t fix it.

I always recommend Knitting Pure and Simple patterns because they are easy and well written.
