Looking for a quick and easy baby blanket pattern

I am looking for a quick and easy baby blanket pattern (just a small blanket). My boss is expecting a little boy in Feb. She knows that I’m a knitter, and has been hinting that she would love to have a knitted blanket. I don’t really have the patience for a big blanket, so was looking for something quick & easy…

I SOOOO do not have the patience for blankets…but if/when I do make one, it will be this one! :smiley:

Ok, after looking at ALL those baby blankets/afghans, which ones do you like the best?

I’m going to need to make one but won’t need to have it until May. Don’t know if its a boy or girl so I haven’t decided what to do yet.

Of course, first I need to get these Christmas projects finished.

I looooooooooove the pinwheel baby blanket! It is a very quick and easy pattern and people always comment on how unique a round baby blanket is.

This is the one I am doing!!! (well I have the yarn and I have the needles in the same bag as the yarn so I consider it a WIP!)

Julie, that round blanket is so cool!! I would love to make one and save it for when I have kids (that will be in the very distant future! :lol: )

YP, perhaps you can answer a question about the pattern? Here’s a clip from the pattern:

Cast on 5 stitches, knit around. Place a marker to mark the beginning of the round.

Next round, make 1 stitch in each stitch (10 stitches).

Round 5: k1, yo around to marker. (20 stitches).

:thinking: I don’t understand how you get from the second line to the third line, which jumps to round 5. Is there a part missing?

:?? I’m researching baby blanket patterns myself, would love to do this one if I could figure this part out…

I have no idea why it jumps to round 5 like that. I just ignored the round numbers and did the pattern as follows:

CO 5
Join and knit one round
Round 2: KFB of each stitch (end up with 10 stitches)
Round 3: K10
Round 4: K1, YO all the way around
Round 5: K
Round 6: K2, YO
Round 7: K
Round 8: K3, YO
Etc…

Edited to add: A piece of advice that works well for me. I place markers for every pattern repeat (I usually wait until I have a 100 or so stitches and move to circulars). That way, I can just knit around and know on the YO rounds that when I get to the marker, I need to YO before it for every section.

Thanks so much! Also for the tip on using the markers. I have some Lorna’s Laces Shepherd’s Worsted (the washable one) in their color called “Layette” (cream, yellow, and purple) that I hope will look especially pretty with this pattern.
