Looking For A Pattern With Cars/Need Help With Pattern

I’m making an X-mas gift for a young friend of mine, and I would like a hat with a car design on it.

Or a pattern just on how to knit a car design.

Also, when this pattern:

says “Baby yarn” what yarn brand does it mean?

There are lots of yarns with that name…

And I can’t find Patons Grace anywhere besides online.

Any help would be great!

Patons Grace is a sport weight yarn with 6 stitches to the inch (24 over 4 inches) on US 4 needles. Most baby yarns are about the same, but you can check the gauge on them and see if they are about the same. Even a DK weight might be okay if you go down a needle size. Just do a gauge swatch.

Not sure about a car hat or chart… :think:

I would suggest looking through cross stitch patterns. You could knit the background and purl the car design…or use colors for the car. Either way, cross stitch patterns is where I would look. This is one site found by “googling” the words…“cross stitch car”: link text

Baby yarn is a weight of yarn, fingering or sport, or will have a 3 or 2 on the label.

It only says 2 3/4 so obviously they are talking mm. That’s about a US size 2.
