Looking for a particular stitch

[b][color=blue]Hello everyone,

Years ago (like 40) when I learned to knit, one of my very frist projects was a mohair cardegan. I’ve long since lost the sweater, but I’m interested in recreating the stitch. I have several referrence books, Mon Tricot, Vogue, Barbara Walker, etc. But I have not seen this particular one in it. It was a 4 stitch repeat based entirely on knit (no purl stitches, even on the back side) I remember there were slipped stitches involved. About every 4th row you slipped one stitch over some other stitches forming a bump.

The overall effect was similar to blackberry stitch, but less thick through and more supple. If I still had the sweater I could recreate the stitch, but I’m working from memory here. Anybody have a clue what I’m talking about? OTOH, it could be of my own invention, since I was so new at knitting and I didn’t have anyone helping me at all, just going by the book[/color][/b]. :teehee:

I don’t know which stitch you are might be referring to. Just too new I guess, but have you checked any stitch dictionaries? They have photos as well as directions and I’m sure you can find something similar.

Down at the bottom of the page…I’m guessing the purl stitches on either end are more for a selvedge effect rather than part of the pattern.

row 1 - knit across, purl last stitch
row 2 - slip 1, yo, k2tog, repeat from *, purl 1
repeat row 2 till the end, then one row 1, bind off.

My Gosh, I think that is IT! And it is even in about the same color as the one I made WAY way way back then.
