Long Tail Cast On Question

Try and follow me (its hard to explain) :slight_smile: but kudos if you understand

When you cast the first stitch on using the long tail caston, you end up with 2 stitches, does that count as one stitch or 2? because I count it as two and then when I knit the first row, I somehow grow an extra 1 to 3 stitches!

Another vote for 2 stitches. The slip knot is a stitch too.
