Long string bookmark

I once saw a bookmark that had 2 small socks on each side of a single chain. (It was knit.) I didn’t really like the socks though, and everywhere I look I only see regular bookmarks, which are too thick and big for my books. I’ve looked at all the regular sites, ravelry, knittingcentral. But can’t find any. I was hoping to use what I have on hand…since I don’t really Need it. I only have worsted weight and either size 1 or 6…nothing in between…lol. So if anyone knows of a good pattern for this…it doesn’t have to be socks…anything will work.

I think this is the type you’re looking at right?

That sounds like one of those things you could make up yourself. Just add anything to the ends of that cord…tassels, knitted mittens/leaves/flowers, buttons, etc.

As for bookmarks being too thick…I know what you mean. I think if you make them out of crochet thread they would be okay. Haven’t tried it yet though.

Yeah, you’re right about the crochet thread…maybe I’ll pick some up next time I’m out. And I think my only problem is figuring out something cute and small and knitable I can attach to the ends. I guess that’s a better way at finding something cute to knit…instead of looking for a bookmark…I’ll look for something small!

How about something like these. If you use a fine weight yarn they’ll be pretty small. I was thinking of trying the leaves in sock yarn.

Just think of things and look on Rav.

Those are brilliant! I love the leaves and heart especially. I remember making something like the heart with a crochet hook but it didn’t turn out as nice and I couldn’t do the other end. (Although looking back, I probably could have bound off and attatched a second one with the same start…lol) And now that I think about it, my grandmother has this adorable little keychain of a glove…it’s only about an inch tall and all the fingers are different colors…I could do one of those and one of the ones you found. (I’ll just need an magnifying glass to see if I can recreate it…lol.) If I figure it out, I’ll post it here!

 I’ll post the bookmark with leaves when I get around to it.

I love the olive … what a great gift … Olive You !!!
(from a knock knock joke … who is there? Olive. Olive Who? Olive You)
