Log Cabin Blanket

One of my resolutions this year was to finish projects that have been languishing in my closet, and this was the first to be declared a FO. I started this blanket in January of 2007 for my nephew, who was 3 at the time. I started with 10 skeins of Caron Simply Soft yarn, and was inspired by the log cabin section of Mason Dixon Knitting. At the time it was only supposed to be a small blanket, but since my nephew is now 7 and at least a head taller than every other kid in his class, I decided to keep knitting and make it large enough that he would be able to use it for a while. I’m proud of this project and I’m glad that it’s finished, but I won’t be doing any more log cabins for a long time, at least not with size 6 needles.

I apologize for the link to another site. I’ve been trying for several months to post a picture in here and it won’t work, so finally I gave up. I’m almost finished another project that I started the same year, and hopefully it’ll be up soon.

It’s beautiful! Lucky nephew!

You might consider posting a photo here so people don’t have to click out to view it. We have members who have said they can get here to KH and see the photos, but can’t get to Ravelry.

I’ve been trying since I finished the blanket in March to post a picture here, but every time I try something goes wrong. I never had any trouble before, but I tried every different method explained in the How to Post Photos sticky, and I tried in three different browsers, and the picture would never work. I resized using two different sites and tried to link from Flickr and every time I tried to upload a photo KH stopped working on me and told me that the site couldn’t be found.

What a beautiful log cabin blanket. Your color selection is just gorgeous. It’s a delight to see! Thanks very much for persisting with the link.

Wonderful work! I love the colors, too…cool on one triangle, warm on the other! Totally interesting! I applaud your perseverance! Size 6 needles! Wow. A million perfect little stitches!

I just love the way you used the cool and warm colors in your LC. I know your nephew is going to love it. Don’t you love that pattern? Not so sure about using size 6 needles, but it’s a great pattern. I have made 2 and I’m working on my 3rd.

Congratulations on finishing it.

Wow! What a great blanket!!! Wonderful job!

It is a beautiful blanket and the colorwork is stunning!!
