Lobster stitch

I am looking for instructions for an aran knitting stitch. It is called the lobster stitch and I have also seen the lobster claw stitch. Not sure if they are the same stitch or not.

THANKS
Lynn

I found this.

Thanks Ingrid - I had already found that… the only issue is that it is crochet and I need to do this stitch within a knit pattern. It is an aran knit sweater.

 Oops!!

I have just spent the last hour and a half searching the net for this stitch. I found a site selling a sweater with the pattern right down the middle, but for the life of me I cannot find out how to do it! I would love to figure out how to do that stitch! I’ve tried every stitch library and directory I know of, and nothing… odd.

knitclickchick - thanks for trying… I know, I have been searching for days… I bought an expensive pattern from clanarans before - that did not include that stitch, but maybe if I email them, they will tell me that one stitch. If I find it, I will let you know.

“The Ultimate Sourcebook of Knitting and Crochet Stitches” p143 has a cable pattern called the ‘seed cable’ that looks exactly like the clanaran lobster claw. It’s developed over 16 rows. Is this what you are looking for?

I posted this question on Ask Yahoo… and someone gave this link. There is no picture, but they are calling it the lobster stitch: (hope this is it!) Scroll down the page just a bit.

Thanks Knitasha!! That book is at my library so I can take a look tomorrow.
THANKS :happydance:

Hope it’s the right one.
Stitches can have different names in different places at different times.
And different stitches are sometimes called by the same name.
It’s like the common names for flowers – there are probably fifty different flowers that are called “daisies.” Impatiens is also bizzy-lizzy, and so forth.
Anyway, I hope you’ve found the right lobster claw.
