I’m making this football hat for my grandson who is 2 yrs old, but closer to size of a 3 yr old. Do you think this will be too big? He wears a 4 toddler in clothing .

The finished circumference of the hat is 18." You could measure the child’s head size (on average 19-20") so that hat would fit nicely with 1-2" negative ease.

That’s the average in charts for a child although there is variation.
