Lining knitted work

Any advice on lining a piece of knitting such as a baby blanket? Can’t figure out what type of fabric would work, stretching to fit with the stretch of the knitted piece. I was thinking about knitting a simple back to same measurements of the front and hand sewing the two pieces together.
Than you!

I’ve used cotton fabric to line a couple of baby blankets. (Wash it first before stitching it to the knit blanket.) It kept the blanket light and there’s a wide range of cute designs.
You could use a jersey fabric but if you tack the fabric to the knitting, you limit the stretch anyway.
Here’s an example with a link to how-to line:

It’s lovely to see your beautiful knitting salmonmac!

@cspierer I really liked brushed cotton sheeting when my son was a baby. 100% unbleached cotton is kind to very young baby skin and comes as a soft cream colour, the texture of the brushed cotton is warm and soft unlike flat cotton which is a bit hard and cold (in my opinion). It could be an option to buy a cot sheet to use as backing.
Having said that, the colourful backing fabrics salmonmac has suggested are gorgeous and baby’s skin is rarely against a blanket anyway as they are always dressed in something.

Is this for the sheep blanket? Have you considered matching baby legs? (Like leg warmers but for the entire leg, excellent for nappy free time when it’s chilly.)

Yes, its for the baby sheep blanket which is not so pretty on the back. Thank you for your suggestion! Great idea to do leg warmers. We have plenty of the yarn left over.

Thanks again,
