Lining a felted purse

I’ve just finished the Buttonhole purse (it’s my first felted project), and it turned out great! My question is, is it necessary to line it, and if so, how? It seems as though if would be very difficult to sew in (even hand stitches). Also, do I need a closure for the bag or does it stay in place? I know several of you have made this bag, and I’m wondering if you lined yours or used a closure (like maybe velcro or a magnetic snap) at the top, or just left it as it is?

Thanks,

I made this bag a few weeks ago…I don’t think it needs a lining, it seems sturdy enough without one. No closure on mine, I just left it like it is…I  mine!

Thanks, it really does seem very sturdy–mine is almost dry and I can’t wait to carry it. It was already shaped when it came out of the washer, so I placed small towels inside of it to absorb excess moisture. I was very surprised how well it felted, since I had never felted anything before and didn’t know what I was doing–but, I followed my pattern and it turned out well. Now, I have the “felting bug”. (Actually, I really didn’t want to line it, but would if I had to.)

Hi I’m new to this forum and just felted my first purse. I’m not happy with it. where is thepattern for the buttonhole purse you all are talking about? Maybe I will try that one. the one I did came fromt eh Knitting pattern a day desk calendar. the problem is it is twice sas long as it should be and only half as tall so I must have made a mistake!

Thanks!

I actually got the pattern from someone on this forum, but the address of the site is: www.masondixonknitting.com. Hope this helps. Good luck!
