Linen stitch and Checkerboard questions

Hello, I’m new to this forum and new to knitting! I’ve been enjoying this website and all the wonderful videos!

I have a question about making a baby blanket. I love the linen stitch and was wondering if it would work to use that as a border around a checkerboard pattern blanket. The stitch doesn’t seem to be quite as “tall” as the regular knits and purls, hence my dilemma.

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the forum!

If you pick up the stitches after the blanket is done, you should be able to work the linen stitch for the edge and you wouldn’t have to worry about the difference in gauge.

Thanks for the welcome, and thanks for the reply! That’s a great idea! I actually decided to just do a seed stitch border around the checkerboard pattern instead (actually, three checkerboard panels with seed stitch for the borders and in-between the panels). Here’s hoping it turns out! LOL! It’s my first real kitting project! :x:
