Lindsey Mitts

Hello everyone, l hope you are all well.

The Lindsey Mitts are a free pattern available on Ravelry and Lovecrafts and designed by Abbie Groves. They are beautiful and l thought they would be an excellent beginner colourwork project for me as only 2 colours are used and my father needs warmer mittens, so lm knitting them with Drops Nord and on 3.25mm dpns so they will fit his much bigger hands.

My question is, where in the charts do l begin knitting as l am at this stage and how do l organise the sts on my dpns?

I would be very grateful for any help, thank you

That looks like a fun knit. Begin the charts after the ribbing and an increase round. You’ll be knitting in the round, reading the chart from right to left for all the rounds.

The thumb sts and their chart are inserted at either the right or left thumb (from the beginning of the chart. In other words you’ll be working the thumb gusset after that increase row.

You can arrange the sts in whatever way is convenient for you. I often work with 4 needles, 2 on the back of the hand and 2 on the palm with a 5th needle as the working needle.

Thank you Salmonac this is very helpful information and I shall try to upload my progress as l go along. I did not knit a corrugated rib as l was going to knit a different pattern, the Printer’s Fleuron Mitts but l thought they were more difficult for my beginner colourwork skills. Thank you so much for replying, God bless you and yours xx
