Lilly of the valley help!

hello! I’m working on my very first shawl here. in particular it’s the Lilly of the Valley shawl by Nancy Bush. I got through the center rectangle part, then put the project down for a while, and now I’m getting back into it and I need to begin the edging. The directions for beginning the edging are confusing the beans out of me. Probably in part because I haven’t looked at the pattern in a while.

I’ve switched to the circular needles, but I’m confused as to where I start picking up stitches. Any help will be greatly appreciated. :heart:

If you look at the edge, you see the two loops of each edge stitch. What she’s having you do is pick up one stitch by putting the needle through both loops of the first stitch. Then on the next stitch, you pick up 2 stitches–one through the back loop and one through the front loop. Make sense?
