Letters and symbols on scarves

I am a begining knitter my question is that i have seen scarves with letters or symbols of things on scarves and i would like to make my friend a scarf with his countrys emblem on it to be able to wear to futbol(soccer) games is this possible :thinking: or would it be easier to just use the countrys colors? or might anyone have any ideas?

You can knit any pattern or picture into a background. The method you use is intarsia. You’ll also need a chart of the picture you want to copy. Each box on a graph-paper chart would be a stitch. There are instructions here in the videos and in many books.
