I finished and blocked the Leah’s Lace Shawl I have been working on for the last month. I ended up using my front porch with multiple towels to save the shawl from Pippi (kitten) claws. I used Bad Sheep yarn on colorways: Fox, Gold Rush and Pacquerette (rust multicolored, golden and white/yellow) using US 7needles on 40" circular cable. This was my very first shawl and my first serious lace attempt. I am really happy with how it turned out. My mother had called dibs on it when she saw me working on it via Zoom, but she didn’t survive a bout with a bowel obstruction and died 10/24/22. I will give it to one of my kids or wear it myself in her honor.
Good to keep it in the family. My thoughts are with you.
I’m sorry to hear of your mother’s passing. It’s always hard.
Your shawl is lovely both in color and pattern. I’m sure it’ll be a good reminder of your mother and a way to honor her.
Creations and Salmonmac,
I so appreciate your kind thoughts.
It’s absolutely beautiful!!
Thank you; I’ve put it away for my oldest daughter for a holiday gift.
My condolences for the loss of your mother. We lost my mother in 2004 and I still catch myself thinking that I need to call momma and tell her this and that.
As for your shawl, it is absolutely gorgeous!
Thank you for your kind words - I do find myself thinking every day, Oh I need to tell Mom…it’s not painful as much as kind of empty.
My daughter loves her shawl and wears it thinking of her Grandma.
So sorry about your Mum. Your work is beautiful and a lovely gift for your daughter x
Thank you, YarnPlease!
