Leaf Chain pattern issue

Hello knitting friends, I am currently struggling with my 5th attempt at successfully starting this pattern. My problem is that I am to start my first row with 111 sts and finish with 131. The issue i am having is that i cant seem to match the stitch count by the time i start the next row.

maybe someone can help me decipher the pattern, as i am obviously missing an increase somewhere. :frowning:

the pattern is as follows:

using larger needles, cast on 111 sts
work 2 rows of g st
work in leaf chain patt as follows:
row 1: Ssk, *[yo, ssk] twice, k3, [k2tog, yo] twice, s2kp, yo, ssk, yo, [k1, yo] 3 times, k1 in next st, yo k2tog, yo, s2kp; rep from * end last rep k2tog instead of s2kp (131 sts)

row 2 and every foll alt row: Purl

im just not sure where im missing the stitches, as there are plenty of YO’s to counter the decreases… maybe someone can suggest something to me, haha,

thanks a bunch!

I can’t get this to add up either. It seems that it takes 101sts and there are 8 incrases total which only gives you 109sts at the end of the row.
What is the name of the pattern? Can you give us a link to it? have you checked for errata online?

the pattern is as follows: cast on 111 sts
row 1: Ssk, *[yo, ssk] twice, k3, [k2tog, yo] twice, s2kp, yo, ssk, yo, [k1, yo] 3 times, k1 in next st, yo k2tog, yo, s2kp; rep from * end last rep k2tog instead of s2kp (131 sts)

Just checking…
Is the “K1 in next st” described as an inc? (i.e. kfb)
What does the s2kp stand for?

It apperas that you should be doing the overall repeat four times.

hello RochesterKnitter,

yes the “K1 in next stitch” does mean kfb… or at least after doing some searching online that’s what I have come to interpret

and s2kp means to slip 2 sts knitwise, knit the next stitch and slide the two slipped stitches off the right hand needle.

@ salmonmac

the pattern is from a book called "Classic knits - DK publishing"
and the pattern itself is called “Women’s Lace Hoodie”

Thanks for the pattern name and source.
Yes, the inc and the s2kp are right
I couldn’t find any errata online.

You might try contacting the publisher to see if they have any updates on the pattern. If a designer is listed you might try to contact the designer, too.

I’m with SalmonMac. Getting 101 as a starting count, 2 inc per repeat, ending with 109sts.
Is this the actual item?
