I put my lovely bottle green skirt in with my other laundry and when the cycle finished i realised it had run.
Now as far as my turquoise underwear goes, thats not a problem, it looks lovely and vibrant now! but if i had wanted and all green wardrobe complete with a pale green tie die shirt, green socks, a green vest, and a green and black pinstrip bra i would have bought them!
how do i go about getting this leaked green dye out of my clothes?
Rit has a product called Color Remover. It says it can safely be used on white fabrics that have had other color leached onto them.
I have never tried it, so I’m not sure how well it works.
My mom uses something like the Rit product already mentioned when she washes new fabric or completed quilts. What she uses sucks up excess dye in the wash. Come to think of it, it might actually be the Rit thingie…
I don’t know how well it would work on things that are already stained though, are they still wet? You’ve probably got a better chance of getting the dye out while they’re still wet!!
Sewing Angel and Firefly are right, there’s a product by Rit called “dye grab” or something like that. I had to use it when I turned our laundry pink one time. It’s next to the dyes in the laundry aisle.
Don’t feel like the Lone Ranger, I turned a white shower rug dirty brown this week by washing it with chocolate brown towels that I thought had been washed enough not to bleed. :-x
I’ve done the same thing… a neon green hand towel was accidentally put into a wash of MY whites turning everything a lovely shade of pale lime green (really pretty, but c’mon!) I used the Rit Color Remover twice to get everything white again, and it worked. But it was a load of whites, I don’t know what it’ll do to the other colors.
thanks for that. i am not sure if we have that product in the UK but at least i know there is some hope! i will have a look in the supermarket tomorrow.
I guess if you do laundry long enough this will happen. One time I got one of my husband’s red golf socks into his white underwear unknowingly. Really. Well, he wore pink jockey shorts (:teehee:) until they faded with the help of Clorox.
[QUOTE=mwhite;1133160]:teehee: I think this must happen to men that get too big for their britches sometimes! LOL
I use a product called “Shout Color Catcher” which I assume does the same thing as the Rit product. Hope this helps!!![/QUOTE
MWhite, you hit the nail on the head: my DH has always been toooo big for his britches - whether, when we married, something like a 34 to now a 40. Oh well, and he tells ME I am fat. I am glad he wore pink undies in the men’s room at a U.S. Government D.O.E. office. :teehee:
ya should have gone and washed the skirt in cold with a cup of white vinegar… i’m not sure how to go about getting dye out of the other clothes aside from dying them all black.
