Lang Pattern Instructions

I’m knitting a child’s sweater from a Lang Book and can’t understand what they mean:

“in every 2nd row dec 1 st 3 times in between the edge stitches”. Do you think this means I decrease 1 stitch at the beginning of the row, 1 in the middle and 1 at the end? As this would mean decreasing 1 stitch in the middle of the back, I can’t think it makes sense as it shows. Any suggestions?

Has anyone else had problems with the Lang instructions?

Thanks!

Don’t dec in the middle, just at the beg and end of every other row 3 times. That would be over 6 rows, and it can be one st in from the edge.

What I do for this is I do a SSK at the right edge and a k2tog at the left edge. And I do it 2 stitches in from each edge so that way if I have to do mattress stitch on the edging later it makes doing the mattress stitch much easier. If this is for a sleeve I would suggest doing it that way. It just comes out nicer. IMHO.
