Ladies and gentlemen, I present

My Ghetto Swift!

:roflhard:

ETA…this is the definition of “ghetto” I was thinking of when I named it a ghetto swift…courtesy of Urban Dictionary:

  1. (adj.) jury-rigged, improvised, or home-made (usually with extremely cheap or sub-standard components), yet still deserving of an odd sense of respect from ghetto dwellers and non-ghetto dwellers alike

Very fitting for my swift…but potentially offensive without the explanation, for which I apologize!

It looks like it spins too!! :cheering:

VERY CLEVER!!

-hh

BRILLIANT!!!

You are soooo resourceful! I love it! Let us know how it works.

It works great!

That is absolutely BRILLIANT!!! :cheering: :cheering: :cheering:

AKA: The Amazing “THRIFTY SWIFT” !

:roflhard:

Very cool! You are too clever and resourceful…allow me to add my BRILLIANT also!

[color=indigo]That is so cool. DO you have instructions anywhere?

LOL Susie, I don’t, but they would go something like this:

  1. Find something spinny. For me, it was one of those spinning CD racks. I hacked it apart with a saw so all I had were two squares of wood connected by the ball-bearing thing that makes it spin. (You could also buy the ball bearing thingy and connect two pieces of wood, but that was more expensive.)

  2. Keep your eyes peeled for an expandable wall hook/coat rack thingy, or some similar expanding do-hickey.

  3. Screw them together.

Voila! Ghetto swift! :rofling:

(total cost: $3.98 )

That is absolutely brilliant!!!

We hit thrift stores ALL the time… I am so going to be looking at stuff like that!

I bet a lazy susan would work, too.

You know, that’s what I was looking for originally…but I settled on the only spinny thing I could find!

It’d have to be a very small one…at least for me. I like to use lazy susans for other stuff.

[color=darkblue]Julie,
Thanks for the instructions. Sounds easy enough. I bet my husband could come up with something.
Thanks,
