Ladder Yarn & Patterns for Use?

Has anyone used “ladder style” yarn before?

I was looking on-line at Webs and they have ladder yarn at a pretty good price (I found it else where for $9.95/ball) but I wanted to know other’s opinions.

Also, is there anything else to do with it besides scarves?

The Lion Brand website has a free pattern for a kimono made with their ladder yarn. I think it’s pretty cool looking, but I’m not crazy enough to try it.

Thanks! I guess I didn’t look hard enough for yarn that was built the same way the Dazzle yarn was. I love the poncho that is on there too. I’m so boring that the Kimono and the poncho on there aren’t my style, BUT I have some pretty snazzy friends who would love either of those!

I dont like useing this kind of yarn on its own. I always seem to mess up and it tangles.
But I have used it as a carry along with other novelty yarns like eye lash,
And pom pon yarn. It made great little “windows” of flat color in the riot of other textures. I have only made scarves though.

Thanks quirky - I remember my grandma knitting me a small scarf with it and she had some of the same thoughts. I bet it would look cool when knitted with another yarn. Thanks for that suggestion!
