Ladder stitch to attach pieces?

I am making a toy and it states to attach the legs with a ladder stitch. Can someone explain this? I have no idea what to do and I can’t find any videos online for this specifically.

I wonder if they mean mattress stitch? It is done by picking up the little ladders to sew up. I’ve never heard it called that, but I’ve not heard of anything called a ladder stitch either, and people use all sorts of names for things. Try looking for mattress stitch and you will find a lot of help. If it doesn’t seem to apply get back to us.

Well, some of the instructions do state to use a mattress stitch for attaching other parts but in several of the projects, it states to use ladder stitch too. I did find a ladder stitch referring to sewing and fabric dolls/pillows/etc so I used that as a guideline, kind of.

You probably did the right thing. Since it is sewing on the legs to the body it is the same as any “sewing” project, so if you found something called ladder stitch regarding sewing it would be what you want. I usually just use an overcast stitch to sew body parts together.
