Lace knitting

I’m not new to knitting and I’ve done a few small lace projects.
I have decided to try Cascade’s Rose Trellis Shawl and I am having trouble keeping track of the lace repeats. Is there a trick I’m missing? I’ve frogged it 3 times and haven’t made it past the 3rd lace row yet.

Put in markers between repeats. The pattern recommends it and it will help you until you can see the lace pattern. Even though the markers will eventually have to move, it’ll help in the beginning.
These projects are frustrating for the first few rows until the pattern is established but usually go well after that.

I agree markers are very useful. Also remember to count, count, and count again.
