Lace Gauntlets TROUBLE

Hi there
I have just joined today and wanting some help from anyone who is online. I am following this pattern

Row 1 : Knit
Row 2: Purl
Row 3: K2 *K1,(k2 together)twice,(yarn forward,K1)three times,yarn forward(slip 1,k1,psso(pass slip stitch over)twice,k1.Repeat from * to last 2 stitches,K2
Row 4: Purl

Everything is fine until I get to row 4 purl…It just doesn’t work, I am a beginner so I don’t know the correct terminology but i think I am having trouble when I have to purl into a yarn forward …I don’t know if anyone will get what I am meaning.
Can anyone help

Hi and welcome to KH!
Make sure you’re doing the yarn forward correctly. Basically a yarn forward before a K1 (even with the slipped stitch inbetween) is a yarn over and is shown in this video

Also, you want to check that the yarn over and the slip stitch aren’t getting mixed with each other. On the purl row you should then be able to put your needle into the yarn over from the previous row and purl it. It should be a very open stitch that’s ready to purl into.

Thank you ever so much for replying to my thread, I was doing the pattern row perfectly but for the life of me couldn’t purl into a yarn forward, after countless times of purling into the back of the yarn forward stitch and mucking it all up I finally just got in and purled into the front of the stitch…had been a while since I had done this pattern and I am a beginner so just went blank but thank goodness I have got it and have almost finished a pair of lace gauntlets for my sister’s birthday.I have just moved from Nelson NZ to Auckland NZ which means I left my knitting support group in Nelson to! I have no one in Auckland that can knit so I will be using this sight a lot! Once again thank you for the quick reply.

I’m so glad you found KH. I’m sorry you had to leave your knitting group but I’m glad you’re here.

Glad you figured it out. Yes, purl into the yarn over as you normally purl inorder to leave a lacy hole. I’m sure you’ll find other knitters in Auckland too, maybe at a yarn store? There’s a part of the forum devoted to Knitters Knear You but the thread for Auckland is rather old. Maybe time to ask again or ask about knitting groups nearby?
