I also am a crocheter who just started knitting this year. Well actually I re-taught myself to crochet last year and and made my husband a beautiful afghan This year I am re-teaching myself to knit . But I was always better at crocheting then knitting. I found that I really like knitting with a circular needle much more than two knitting needles. And I started with a worsted weight yarn.
I guess you don’t use the knot with your longtail then. Most people do, but I quit using it about a year ago, and it’s not as lumpy there.
