Knitty.com Winter 2007 patterns

I was just surfing the net when decided to take a look of knitty.com just wondering if by any chance the winter patterns were up yet. I usually receive an email alerting me when they are up. I did not received it this time. Yeap, they are up. I don’t know if it’s me, but I am not that thilled of what I saw. I was expecting much more REAL cold winter patterns!! I am living in Wisconsin and it has been snowing for more than a week now. So, my knitter heart was eager to find really warm winter stuff. They have several sock patterns, lace scarves… a couple of sweaters, a pattern for gloves and another one for mittens… but nothing “new” or interesting (to me) for a heavy winter… sigh… :verysad: Anyway, it’s just IMHO. Maybe you might find the patterns interesting and yummy. Good luck!

Well there are a lot of us in other parts of the country who would be left out if they did that so I think it’s a good idea to have a mix. I don’t like every pattern ever and sometimes I don’t like any of them. Plenty of other patterns out there.

There are a few I like from this issue though…
Halcyonand Square Cake are cute, but I don’t know if I’ll make them.

Yeah, I see your point!

I blogged about this issue (and the Magknits December issue) just last week. I’m just about to cast on Laughing Carrots for my son.

When I looked at the winter issue I knew right away the I was going to make a few Tudora. I have yarn for one that will look fantastic with my red coat and I’ll make another one for my mother. I think that my daughter will like a square cake purse. These are just a few additions to a very long wish list.

There are people even not in that country who have Internet access (it’s true!) and for some of them it’s not even winter, so you’re lucky it’s for the same season you are experiencing (unless you are likely to take about 6 months between seeing a pattern and finishing the item!).

Ha, RedWitch, I was just about to say the same thing. Funnily enough, im also a Kiwi and sitting here in 28’c (80 something 'f) was thinking exactly that.

I feel I have been misunderstood here. I am very aware that millions around the globe do not have Internet, nor computers nor other nice electronics and so many things we do have. That is not what I meant when I started this thread. Perhaps I forgot that not everywhere winter means extemely cold weather. Jan in CA reminded me that simple fact, which I appreaciate. Maybe I got too focus on the “traditional” cold winter here in the Midwest. So my first reaction to knitty.com winter 2007 patterns was what I wrote. Nothing else.

I see what you mean jenny, I felt the same way too. There’s not much in this issue that would be warm enough for me to wear, so I was a bit disappointed.

However, I’ve seen mittens and warm sweaters in the spring/summer/fall issues as well… so don’t give up!

thank you iza  :muah:

I didn’t see much that I care for, but I generally only like one or 2 patterns in any magazine or pamphlet anyway. Partly I imagine because of my age and partly because of my lifestyle.
