Knitting with wire... Help?

Hey. I just got inspired to buy some silver thread–er, silver wire–from Habu Textiles.

It is NOT easy to knit with–does anyone have suggestions? I tried oooos, but that was like teaching a pig to read (You know, frustrates you and pisses off the pig), and then tried with 1s, which seems SLIGHTLY easier, but my gauge is still erratic.

I think I should have started with Copper, which should be a bit cheaper, since frogging is damaging to the wire.

Also, suddenly I wonder–how do I splice the different skeins (er, spools).

Any advice/suggestions appreciated.

Someone not too long ago posted a beautiful wire/bead bracelet they knitted. Let me see if I can find it and maybe that person can give you some pointers.

Here’s the post I was thinking of:

The item was crocheted, not knitted, but she may still be able to help you out.

Get your hands on this book and all with be revealed.
If you have a copy of Annie Modesitt’s “Confessions of a Knitting Heretic,” she’s also got a chapter on knitting with wire.
